I've been given permission by my girlfriend to look at/research/buy an awesome thing! The only stipulation is that it's not another Land Rover, and it's suitable for my business.

The list:

Reynolds Boughton RB44

Kinja'd!!!

Mowag Duro III 6x6 (.50 cal and mortars not included)

Kinja'd!!!

DAF 4x4 5T Cargo

Kinja'd!!!

I've looked into the Boughtons before, and I'm damn sure it's the easiest to get parts for. I'll be heading down to Withams in a couple of weeks to go check them all out :) I'm silly excited

What is your business that military vehicles can be incorporated?

Just buy a Defender and tell her it's the reliable American version.

Unimog is seconded. It means you have to now.

Good choices. The Broughton looks awesome, let us know how that turns out!

The folks that dredged the canal near my house used nothing but old military trucks.

I'm a glorified gardener and the underlying business theme is military, but in a restrained way. We follow the colour scheme for branding, but don't use camo etc. One side of it is based on the women's land army of WWII with appropriate branding and only female staff.

Neat. I employ almost only women. Not really intentional but it helps with some clients.

I completely agree. The girls do all of my planting plans and associated aftercare, because they're just so damn good at their jobs and at talking to customers

I worked somewhere where the manager would only hire women to work up front because they were just generally better. When I worked at Papa John's (pizza) almost all my managers preferred to have women/girls answer the phones because they looked at studies that showed customers preferred it.

She wouldn't fall for it, a Land Rover is a Land Rover, and another one is a no no. Such a shame, especially when I keep suggesting some great eBay 'bargains' on a weekly basis. 'Hey bab, this guy totally doesn't know what he's selling. This type of 130 pickup is so rare, and it's so cheap, so... can I go see it?' Not once has this worked. Soon though, soon.

The Mowag looks amazing! I have to ask, what is your business (besides being awesome)?

I'm afraid it's not that awesome! I design and build gardens, and the business branding is military-esque, but not over the top. We don't run around hoo-ah-ing and dressing in camo, for example, but we do use the colours and some WWII themes for the different sides of the business, like the Women's Land Army;

Kinja'd!!!

and Dig For Victory;

Kinja'd!!!

And we happen to the trash around in a couple of ex-military Land Rovers, and two Volvo estates! If I could find something suitable to replace the Volvos then I would, but aside from painting them in NATO green and putting stickers on them, there's nothing really suitable.

That's a pretty sweet business idea! Yeah, a big military style truck would be both functional, and essentially free advertising for you. Hope the shopping trip works out!
